This week has been spent processing a lot of photos that were shot during last week’s Team and Individual photo shoot for the Mountain States Renegades. I have spent quite a bit of time trying to iron out my new workflow using Lightroom 2.1 and Photoshop CS3 together. For the first time in recent memory I did the entire photoshoot in RAW. Using Lightroom on the front end really makes shooting in RAW nice and easy. I always shied away from shooting in RAW exclusively due to the extra headache in processing and managing the RAW file. I even went one step further and made a commitment to importing all files in Adobe DNG format. DNG seems to be the way to move forward with RAW since pretty much all RAW formats are unique to not only the manufacturer, but often times unique to the individual camera. DNG is to RAW files what PDF is to documents.
One shot from the team and individual photo shoot stuck out for me. When my son first started playing hockey there was a kid on his team that was a year older than him. Our paths crossed many, many times over the years and I got the opportunity to shoot this nice young man with his younger brother. I think the image speaks for itself.
I also did a photo shoot for the local High School Sadie Hawkins dance this weekend. Although we didn’t make a ton of money at the event, we still had a good time. There was a young couple that took the meaning of Sadie Hawkins to a new level.
Cool Sites
Here are some cool sites that I came across this week.
Lightroom Forums. What can I say, a great place to answer questions and get advice regarding Lightroom.
A guy I ride motorcycles with had a revolutionary idea that he was able to execute on pretty successfully. He was doing a ‘semi-live’ ride report using his iPhone and a flickr account. As his ride would progress and as cell phone service would dictate, he would upload photos as he rode. The link on the ADVRider website would be automatically updated as he added photos. Here is his thread.
